JOHN GREEN - PRESIDENT

 

John R. Green, a life-long Detroit area native, received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1973. He joined the John E. Green Company in 1974. John E. Green Company is a large mechanical contractor serving the eastern half of the United States, specializing in Plumbing, HVAC, Process Piping and Fire Protection construction for the automotive, industrial, battery, data centers, hospital, university, commercial and water & waste treatment sectors of the industry.  John served as Secretary-Treasurer of John E. Green Company from 1974 to 2015, and as Human Resource Director until 2019. Currently, he is Secretary, a Shareholder and Board Member Emeritus of John E. Green Company. As a part of the third generation of Green’s involved in the family business, he is especially proud of the fact that the 4th and 5th generation of Green’s are fully in charge of the John E. Green Company operations and management. For over 50 years, John has been involved in the mechanical contracting industry. He is a past President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Detroit and a current board member. Mr. Green is a Trustee on various insurance and pension trusts in the industry. An avid golfer and theatre lover, John believes DACA is important to the Detroit area construction industry as both a networking and informational resource to its members.

 

KEVIN HOULE - (PAST DIRECTOR)

 

Mr. Houle is the Chief Financial Officer at Mark Anthony Contracting ("MAC"), a concrete road paving contractor working in Michigan.  Established in 2016, MAC is a growing contractor.  Prior to MAC, Mr. Houle was the Chief Financial Officer at RAM Construction Services, a specialty contractor servicing approximately 30 states in the East & Midwest. RAM’s services include building façade restoration, concrete restoration, DOT services, waterproofing and caulking. In addition to his 27 years of experience at RAM, he also has 8 years of experience as controller for a mid-sized general contractor.

 

Houle holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Wayne State University. He was a member of RAM’s Executive Committee and Safety Committee. He was also is a member of (SWR Institute) Sealants, Waterproofing & Restoration Institute.

 

AARON M. PARTRIDGE, CPA - TREASURER

 

Aaron Partridge is a Shareholder in the Construction Group at Doeren Mayhew, a regional CPA firm headquartered in Troy, MI serving privately-held, middle-market companies. For over 20 years, Doeren Mayhew has been ranked as a "Best of the Best" firm by Inside Public Accounting.  This is an honor that no other Michigan CPA firm has ever received.  Doeren Mayhew is also one of the Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms in America according to Construction Executive magazine.

 

Since 2000, Aaron has assisted construction companies ranging from $1 million to over $1 billion in revenue with their financial reporting requirements, risk-based assurance and business advisory needs.  Aaron is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from Central Michigan University.

 

KAMEL NAZAR, PE, BSEE, MBA

 

Kamel Nazar is the Founder and Principal of Innovative Engineered Solutions, Inc. (IES), a full-service Architecture & Engineering consulting firm based in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Since founding IES in 2005, he has led the firm in delivering industry-leading design solutions for commercial and industrial facilities across multiple states in the U.S., serving diverse market segments including automotive, financial, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, commercial housing, and communications.

 

With over 35 years of experience in facilities and infrastructure engineering, project management, and business development, Kamel combines leadership and technical expertise with strategic vision to drive IES’s growth.

 

Kamel holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt) and a Master’s in Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University (Southfield, Michigan). He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Michigan, specializing in electrical facilities systems.

 

MICHAEL SMITH

 

Mr. Smith is the president of JLS Family Financial, specializing in life insurance and life settlement solutions. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as vice president and president/CEO of the Associated General Contractors and participating in labor-management groups overseeing pension and healthcare trust funds for the Operating Engineers, Laborers, and Carpenters unions. Michael worked with the Secret Service, conducting advance work for the White House during the Carter, Reagan, and Bush administrations. His leadership roles extended to the Michigan State Senate and the U.S. Senate and served as vice president of the Detroit Regional Chamber.

 

Michael pursued his education at Aquinas College before graduating from the James Madison College at Michigan State University. He holds an Executive MBA from MSU’s Advanced Management Program and is a graduate of both the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina and the Institute for Organization Management.

 

EDWARD LONGVILLE - (PAST SECRETARY)

 

Mr. Longville is the Chief Financial Officer at Royal Roofing Company.  Royal Roofing is a commercial roofing firm which operates throughout Michigan for a variety of industrial, office, municipal and warehouse clients.  Longville has a broad experience in the construction industry including leading two commercial banking teams focused on contractor lending, time as a senior surety underwriter at Travelers and as co-owner of an asphalt material supplier.

 

Mr. Longville earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy.  He is an active member in the AGC Detroit and a Past President of the Surety Association of Michigan.

 

FRANK MAMAT (PAST PRESIDENT)

 

Frank T. Mamat is a Partner in the Detroit office of Plunkett Cooney.  Mr. Mamat is one of the nation’s preeminent labor law attorneys, and focuses his practice on complex labor issues, with a special focus on union matters, contract negotiations, unfair labor practice litigation, National Labor Relations Board practice, organizing attempts by unions, mass picketing and violence, secondary boycotts and pressure, and Federal and State OSHA matters.

 

He is a member of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers and is annually selected as one of the Top 100 Labor Lawyers in the U.S. by the Labor Relations Institute. Frank is listed in Best Lawyers® in America, Michigan Super Lawyers, dBusiness magazine's Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit, The American Lawyer Top Lawyers, Crain's Detroit Business Best Lawyers, and The American Registry's Top Lawyers in Michigan. He is a member of the National Labor Relations Board's Practice and Procedure Committee for Region 7 (Michigan). Frank also teaches labor law at Wayne State University Law School where he is Adjunct Professor.

 

MICHAEL CARROLL - (PAST TREASURER)

 

Mr. Carroll is the Past Chief Financial Officer at George W. Auch Co., a mid-sized, full-service general contractor and construction management company specializing in healthcare, educational and institutional construction in southeast Michigan. He has 35 years’ experience working as a controller and chief financial officer for mechanical, deep-foundation and general contractor companies. In addition, Mr. Carroll was appointed to the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, where he currently serves as board Treasurer.

 

Carroll holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Detroit, and completed the Private Companies Management Program at Southern Methodist University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants; the Engineering Society of Detroit; and Associated General Contractors Michigan.

 

JAMES T. SCHMID, CPA, CFE, CCA

 

Mr. Schmid is the Founder and Managing Director of ResX, PC. He specializes in providing expert testimony on GAAP issues, fraud, and commercial damages involving intellectual property, lost profits, construction claims, construction fraud, post acquisition disputes and business valuation. Additionally, he provides contract audit services for royalty, construction, and procurement contracts.

 

Jim is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Construction Auditor (CCA). Jim has a B.S. in Engineering from Oakland University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

 

DON QUINN, CPA

 

Mr. Quinn is a shareholder and Chief Financial Officer of National Construction Enterprises, Inc. (NCE), which owns eight construction companies around the country specializing in interior wall and ceiling and exterior enclosure packages.  Companies owned by NCE make it the 9th largest wall and ceiling contractor and the 17th largest glazing and curtainwall contractor in the U.S. per Engineering News-Record.  In addition to his 18 years of experience with NCE, he also has another 18 years’ experience in public accounting and in Chief Financial Officer roles.

 

Don holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Michigan.  He has served as President, Vice President, and as a board member for the Detroit Chapter of the C.F.M.A. and is a founding member of D.A.C.A.

 

DOUG GEORGE

 

Mr. George is the Chief Financial Officer at Dan’s Excavating Inc. Dan’s is a heavy highway and infrastructure contractor working primarily in Michigan. Dan’s was founded in 1974 and has grown into one of the largest heavy highway contractors in Michigan with over 400 employees.  Doug has 40 years’ experience working as a controller and chief financial officer for mechanical, sheet metal, and highway and infrastructure companies

 

Doug holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a M.B.A. from the University of Detroit. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as a board member for the Detroit chapter of the C.F.M.A. and is a founding board member of D.A.C.A.

 

ISAAC WHITNEY

 

Isaac is the Business Development director for Lee Machinery Movers in Pontiac. Prior to this, he worked in the insurance field for fifteen years. Isaac has a passion for networking and interacting with new members. He also handles the website and social media for DACA. His goal is to make DACA the best experience for our guests and members. For fun, he spends his time with his wife and two daughters. Spending time at the pool is his favorite family activity. He has a passion for music, attending live music events and playing his guitars.

 

 

SUSAN GIBSON- (PAST DIRECTOR)

 

Mrs. Gibson is a Regional Director of Client Services and Business Development for Rehmann.  She is responsible for new business development and improving client service within the firm's southeast region working from the Detroit, Farmington Hills and Troy offices.  Prior to joining Rehmann, Ms. Gibson served as the Executive Director of sales and community initiatives for Corp! Magazine.

 

Additionally, she has over 18 years of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur for an independent sales organization operating in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, where she gained sufficient knowledge of general business operations and management.
